Di Biasi writes this book almost in the style of a fast paced movie. The book starts straight in with abundant action and reads like you are watching a low budget modern day science fiction flick.The author doesn't worry us with so much character development. He focuses in on two very important elements necessary to survive in a chaotic world. They are bravery and protection. These elements were so believable in their telling, that I found myself completely lost in the descriptive narrative. I became one of the characters.
The outstanding quality of this book is that it is fast paced, and with this style, it might sometimes be disturbing for the faint of heart.
I certainly enjoyed reading Di Biasi's first novel and look forward to his next one.

I think for a short story the storyline was not to bad. I would like to have known more about the how the aliens got here and why.
This novel of post apocalyptic life for John Betts is a mind-blowing trip. With style & courage John copes with the sparse remains strewn about the scorched American landscape. Aliens hound John but luckily he gathers like-minded friends due to his clever, caring & courageous personality. The ending leaves you hanging - hoping there will be more in store.
I have a secret.....I've never seen a complete star wars film. I'm not a sci-fi guy. Aliens some from other countries not planets. But based on a suggestion from a friend i bought this and started reading. I was in. I was ALL IN immediately. its believable, keeps you interested and before you know it you're reading the last page and wondering what's next for John. Between the Nickelback reference and the interaction between Kent and John, you find yourself thinking this could be happenning to you. Its very real. George Lucas look out Mason Di Biasi has done what you could not...KEEP ME INTERESTED. I am waiting for the next chapter and I have Mason on Google Alert.
